Paperboy #9 - The Upside Down Issue

Paperboy #9 - The Upside Down Issue

Paperboy #9 - The Upside Down Issue

Sometimes an event takes place that is so unexpected, so transformative, so earth-shattering, that we can truly say the world has been turned Upside Down.

This is one of those times, a hinge moment for humanity. That’s right: after eight issues of logo-only dust jackets, PAPERBOY has its first-ever cover star. And what a smasher she is. Photographed by Jack Davison and profiled by Alex Bilmes, Marilyn is a two-toed sloth, resident of London Zoo and, as you’ll find out in this issue, when it comes to modelling for magazines, she’s a natural.

Some things change, some stay the same: our Upside Down theme has been observed with varying degrees of rigour. A few esteemed contributors, like Marilyn herself, have taken it literally. Others… not so much. In any case, we offer a feast for the senses: bad dogs and soft furnishings; bare bottoms and bum bags; anti-gravity household products; head-rush fashion; an excellent poem about a second-rate gymnast; new perspectives on yoga, football fandom, imperfection and fancying farm machinery; and a few of Manolo Blahnik’s favourite things. Read it in the bath, read it on the train, read it standing on your head. The choice, as they say, is yours.
